Cyber Security Awareness Month Planner.

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. In other words, your best shot at encouraging real behaviour change around cyber security.

But real change won't come from wheeling out the same tired slidedeck from the last five years, or spending thousands on a "cutting edge" (boring AF) e-learning module. To help you start on the right foot with a proper campaign, we've put together a comprehensive Cyber Security Awareness Month planner.

Our free planner gives you one place to pull everything together. Set the purpose, map the activity, assign the people and work out what needs to happen next.

Real change starts here.

The Point of the Plan

Plan the month. Don't just fill it.

You might already have vishing exercises, events, resources, leadership support and a comms plan. Great. Now you need to make them mean something.

Our planner helps you connect activities around the behaviours and risks that matter, rather than launching a month of disconnected content and calling the job done.

Completion is easy. Behaviour change takes more thought.

Ten Sections

What's inside?

This is not an empty October grid with a logo shoved at the top. The planner helps you think through the whole campaign.

01

Campaign Objectives

Get clear on what you want October to achieve before you start booking activities.

02

Priority Behaviours & risk areas

Identify the actions and threats that matter most to your organisation and people.

03

Activity Planning

Map your events, exercises, sessions and resources across the month without cramming everything into the first week.

04

Internal Comms Planning

Decide what needs to be said, when it needs to land and which channels you will use.

05

Leadership Involvement

Plan where visible senior support could give the campaign more weight and reach.

06

Key Milestones

Set the dates that matter, including approvals, bookings, launches and delivery deadlines.

07

Ownership & Responsibilities

Give every task a named owner so nothing disappears into the organisational void.

08

Engagement Tracking

Decide how you will measure engagement and improvement, not just completion.

09

End of Month Review

Capture what worked, what fell flat and what your people still need help with.

10

Next Steps Beyond October

Turn one busy month into the starting point for a longer term programme.

Timing

Start Before October

Planning weeks or days before October is too late. The 1st is launch day, and you need to start building awareness well in advance.

Starting early matters even more when you want to run something immersive. Escape rooms, vishing simulations and larger experiences need time to scope, book and build.

A panicked email in late September is not a project plan.

  • 1 What are we trying to change?
  • 2 Which behaviours matter most?
  • 3 Who needs to be involved?
  • 4 What activities are we going to run?
  • 5 What needs to be booked or created?
  • 6 Which communications need preparing?
  • 7 How will leadership be involved?
  • 8 How will we know whether the campaign worked?

Pairs With the Planner

What Will You Actually Do?

Need ideas for what to do? We've got you.

Our 31-Day Cyber Awareness Month Calendar gives you a short, practical two-minute drill for every day of October. Use the calendar to choose the activities. Use the planner to decide where they fit, who owns them and what each one is meant to change.

Ownership

Get Everyone on the Same Page

Who Owns Each Activity

Put one named person in charge of moving it forwards.

Who Needs to approve comms

Identify approvers early rather than discovering them the day before launch.

Who is responsible for delivery

Make it clear who is running, hosting, or facilitating each activity.

Which departments are involved

Map where security, learning, internal comms, HR and other teams need to work together.

When leadership needs to contribute

Give senior leaders enough notice to record messages, attend events or support the campaign visibly.

What needs to happen first

Track the bookings, content, technology, approvals and logistics that delivery depends on.

Afterwards

Don't Let October End on the 31st

Cyber Security Awareness Month should create momentum, not just a brief spike in activity then vanish until next year.

Use the answers to shape the next intervention, not just a cheerful email about attendance figures.

Explore our Cyber Security Awareness Month training programmes to see how immersive experiences can turn awareness activity into something people actually remember and use.

October can start the conversation. A proper programme keeps it going.

The planner gives you space to review what happened

  • What got the most engagement?
  • What behaviours still need work?
  • What did people struggle with?
  • What should continue?
  • What should change?
  • What needs to happen next?
